Proposed vat rules could jeopardise patients’ health at risk from ‘cowboy clinics’

Government plans revealed this week to put VAT on cosmetic surgery treatments will potentially put large numbers of patients at risk.

The 20% rise will apply to all procedures deemed as for choice rather than medical necessity –which in itself will create a legal and ethical minefield.
